Summer 2019 Dates Coming Soon

NS3’s Science in the Park program is coming back once again! We are finalizing our schedule and will post updated dates and times soon.

Science in the Park:
Imagination Station – Summer 2018

NS3’s pop-up Imagination Station is a free community event focused on child-directed play! We will bring the loose parts (including cardboard boxes, tubes, fabric and fasteners) and you bring the imagination and creativity! NS3 Educators will be on site to facilitate family play. Picnics are encouraged.

WHAT: FREE child-directed pop up adventure playground

WHEN: Family Fun Nights 

June 28th from 4-7pm at Departure Bay Park

July 26th from 4-7pm at Mansfield Park

WHERE: Look for NS3’s purple tent

All ages welcome

 

 

Science in the Park: Nature Explorations – Summer 2018

Come EXPLORE local parks and protected areas with NS3’s outreach educators this summer! Explore Nanaimo’s diverse habitats with nature hikes, explorations of local flora and fauna, science games & art projects.

WHAT: FREE drop-in nature explorations at local parks during the summer.

WHEN: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to noon.

WHERE: At local parks in Nanaimo (map). Look for the purple NS3 tent!

July 3-5th at Bowen Park by the duck pond

July 10-12th at Sebastian Beach

July 17-19th at Richards Marsh

July 24-26th at Divers Lake

July 31- August 2nd at Brookwood Park

August 7-9th at Neck Point Park

August 14-16th at Buttertubs Marsh

All ages welcome

 

Please note: for safety purposes we require children under age 16 to be accompanied by a minimum number of supervising adults:

  • Children 4 years old and under, 1 adult per every 3 children is required.
  • Children 5 years old to 9 years old, 1 adult per every 5 children is required.
  • Children 10 years old to 16 years old, 1 adult per 10 children is required.
