Science in the Park Summer Events

Explore beaches, parks and other green spaces with Nanaimo Science’s Outreach Educators! These parent participation drop-in events will have you exploring your parks with nature hikes, explorations of local flora and fauna, science games and art projects.

Free drop-in science activities for children of all ages with their families!  If your daycare, camp of other larger group is interested in stopping by, please contact us so that we know to expect you!

Science in the Park – Summer 2025 🌞

We’re currently planning an exciting lineup of Science in the Park events for Summer 2025—new locations, themes, and hands-on activities are on the way!

📍 Saysutshun (Newcastle Island) Marine Provincial Park
Theme: Rocks & Landforms

Join us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a fun, family-friendly exploration of how wind, water, and time shape the Earth. Activities are free, and all ages are welcome (parent participation required).

Safety

Please note: This event is intended for children and families, parent participation is mandatory.  For safety purposes we require children under age 16 to be accompanied by a minimum number of supervising adults:

  • Children 4 years old and under, 1 adult per every 3 children is required.
  • Children 5 years old to 9 years old, 1 adult per every 5 children is required.
  • Children 10 years old to 16 years old, 1 adult per 10 children is required.
