Nanaimo Science offers a variety of day camps on school Pro-D dates and school breaks!
Our programs are science-driven, with several activities daily focused on each theme for children to take part in – our approach is very hands-on, inviting kids to explore and try things out! Campers also have lots of fun, with crafts, games, and outdoor time. All materials will be provided. Campers will need to bring snacks, lunch and water from home.

Nanaimo Science is excited to welcome young scientists for another summer filled with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery! Our week-long day camps are designed for kids entering Grades 1–7 and feature engaging science themes, outdoor exploration, and fun you won’t find anywhere else.

🏫 Country Club Centre & Departure Bay Elementary School – Our primary camp locations in Nanaimo.
🌲 Aspengrove School (Lantzville) – 5 weeks of Nanaimo Science programming at this beautiful campus.
🌊 Moorecroft Regional Park (in partnership with the RDN) – 2 weeks of nature-based science camps in a stunning oceanfront setting.

On weeks with a statutory holiday (like Canada Day or BC Day), we’re offering single-day science camps so your child can still get a taste of summer STEM fun—even on a short week!

Lunch/recess will be held outdoors when weather permits, which will include a walk to Long Lake (approximately 15 minutes each way, on side roads). While this is a primarily indoor camp, students must bring appropriate outerwear for recess/lunch.
Runs from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Cost is $70 per child. Families must provide their own snacks and lunches.
Plunge into the mysteries of the ocean at Nanaimo Science’s Ocean Explorers Camp! This hands-on day camp introduces kids to marine biology and environmental science through engaging, interactive activities. From exploring ocean acidification to creating Gyotaku fish prints, campers will dive deep into the science of the sea. They’ll also get hands-on with a dissection and microscopes, uncovering the hidden wonders of marine life.
Explore the world of coding and creativity at Nanaimo Science’s Intro to Coding Camp! Designed for young learners, this hands-on camp introduces foundational coding concepts through fun, interactive activities. Using tools like Ozobots, Micro:bits, and Scratch Jr., campers will build problem-solving and critical-thinking skills while creating their own digital projects.

Nanaimo Science reserves the right to expel any participant, without refund of fees, who behaves inappropriately, is disruptive to other participants, volunteers or staff, or becomes a danger to themselves or others.
Nanaimo Science reserves the right to cancel a program one week prior to the start date, and will refund all fees for a cancelled program.
Customer cancellations or changes must be requested in writing. Any change will be subject to a $25 administrative fee for each child/registration.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 14 days or more prior to the program start will be eligible for a full refund, less the administrative fee.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 7-13 days prior to the program start will be eligible for a 50% refund, less the administrative fee.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests with less than 7 days notice will not be eligible for any refund.
There are no pro-rated program fees for days absent from a registered program.
Nanaimo Science has a Communicable Disease Prevention Plan in effect, which is applicable to staff members, volunteers, and participating children and adults. All participants and staff members must be in good health to take part in programs.
Nanaimo Science will not assume responsibility for children before or after camp or after Stay&Play (when available). A $25 late pick-up fee may be charged. Repeated late pick-ups can result in cancelled participation without refund. Sorry – Stay&Play is only available for week-long Summer Camps.
Photos and videos taken during camps are used for Nanaimo Science promotional materials, publications and advertisements. Please note, we never publish children’s names. Parents/guardians may restrict the use of media via their consent on our registration software (Amilia).
