Time: 2:00 pm

Who: ages 9-14 with EV3 and coding experience looking for a challenge. NS3 will be creating a team of 3-10 participants. What: The FIRST® LEGO® League Competitions involve the Robot Game and an Innovation Project. This year’s theme is City Shaper. Where: Team practices will occur at NS3’s Science Studio When: Practices will occur Mondays from 2-3:30pm starting September 16th. The team will meet from September through January. How: Contact our Outreach Coordinator at jamie.phillips@nanaimoscience.org to register. Price: The cost of this program is $200.

Build LEGO creations and program them to move. No LEGO experience necessary. Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30pm; ages 6+; located at 4355 Jingle Pot Rd. No pre-registration necessary. Cost: $10.

Time: 10:00 am

Explore the many features of the Science Studio including: building KEVA block towers, designing marble wall tracks and pulleys, discovering the force of air in the air field, creating flying creations to test in the wind tunnel and variety of exciting science experiments. Thursdays 10:00am to noon. $5/child (adults free). All ages welcome. No preregistration necessary.

Explore the many features of the Science Studio including: building KEVA block towers, designing marble wall tracks and pulleys, discovering the force of air in the air field, creating flying creations to test in the wind tunnel and variety of exciting science experiments. Saturdays 10:00am to noon. $5/child (adults free). All ages welcome. No preregistration necessary.

NS3 birthday parties entertain kids with exciting, hands-on activities and experiments. Our mobile science van will bring the fun to you! Or opt to join us in our Science Studio. Cost is $150 for 10 kids, additional children are $10 each. Total cost includes materials. Please contact us for booking and time inquiries.

Time: 9:00 am

Today is all about LEGO robotics. Use NS3’s LEGO kits to build your choice of robots and code them to move using a drag and drop program. Challenge yourself to build big and experiment with coding. 9am-3pm, with outdoor time. 6+

Time: 9:00 am

Join us for an energizing day of activities. We will learn about different types of energy and how that energy can be transferred between objects. Build a water wheel, insulate your own tiny house, and test your knowledge about everything energy! 9am-3pm with outdoor time. 6+

* Salmon StyleSalmon Style

Time: 9:00 am

Today we’re doing things salmon style. Follow these fish from sea to stream in a salmon migration obstacle course, and learn about their lifecycle. Design your own board game to help salmon make it upstream, protect your eggs from predators, and play the salmon life lottery. 9am-3pm with outdoor time. 6+

Time: 9:00 am

Come learn about anatomy and how unique animals are. Learn by completing a human skeleton puzzle, an anatomy coding game, and comparing animals’ characteristics. We will also test our own physical abilities by completing challenges including flexibility and center of gravity. 9am-3pm with outdoor time. 6+

10am - 12pm Drop in's take place in our Science Studio with all of our exhibits open to explore. We will also have special materials to focus on toy take aparts on this themed drop-in. Bring in old battery powered toys or small electronics to take apart and see how they work!

Come learn about the stuff that makes up everything around us! We will be building models of atoms and molecules to visualize the microscopic world around us. Experiment with different states of matter and melting points. 9am-3pm with outdoor time. 6+
