Join us for an amazing time filled with building, coding, and having fun!
Campers will begin with LEGO WeDo sets to learn the basics of LEGO Robotics, then graduate to Extension or Boost sets.
Experienced LEGO builders (children who have completed LEGO camps with us in the past) may begin at the Boost or Mindstorms levels.
Lunch/recess will be held outdoors when weather permits, which will include a walk to Long Lake (approximately 15 minutes each way, on side roads). While this is a primarily indoor camp, students must bring appropriate outerwear for recess/lunch.
Runs from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Families must provide their own snacks and lunches.

Super Mario fans, we are powering up and getting a high score for this 2-day Super Science Camp!
Kids will enjoy a wide range of science activities related to the themes, creatures, and environments found in the Super Mario universe. From learning why mushrooms have spots, and making awesome Piranha Plant linkage creations, to doing a bit of coding and designing PlusPlus carts to race, this is going to be a super fun pair of days!

Pokémon fans – get ready to learn it all!
This fun Pokémon-themed camp will have kids learning about the animals in our real world that have inspired favourite Pokémon characters. Campers will also explore evolution and biomes, plus learn about probability and more about each ‘type’ represented in the Pokémon world. Crafts and games will also be part of our days!

Build, create & discover with Nanaimo Science! Every day, we will be taking on new STEM activities with our scientists.
***Please note public schools are still in session – these dates are intended for private and homeschooling children.***
Daily outdoor time during lunch/recess and additional fun activities will help round out our days unless the weather does not permit a safe walk to Long Lake.
Families can register for whichever days they need – content will be related, but not carried-over or repeated during this week!

In this program, learners will explore a wide range of Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Design Skills and Technologies curricular competencies.
Families may pick & choose the dates and themes that are of greatest interest to them, or enroll in the full 7-week program.
Primary Programs
Kindergarten – Grade 3
Tuesdays 10:30 – 11:30 AM OR Wednesdays 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Intermediate Programs
Grades 4- 7
Tuesdays 1:00 – 2:30 PM OR Wednesdays 10:30 – 12:00 PM
$18 per 1-hour workshop for Primary students; $28 per 90-minute workshop for Intermediate students. Discounted rates for full 7-week program registration.
Ratios are no more than 10 campers to 1 Outreach Educator for any drop-off program. Outreach Educators work in pairs, additional personnel and teenage volunteers do not count towards our ratios.
Outreach Educators have had criminal records checks, have active first aid certification, and are fully vaccinated.
All participants must be in good health to take part in programs. Please contact us if your child is sick.

Participation: At Nanaimo Science, we offer a variety of activities to support learning and exploration for all children. If you have questions about whether a program is right for your child, please contact us. We are committed to working with families to reduce barriers to participation wherever possible.
Nanaimo Science reserves the right to expel any participant, without refund of fees, who behaves inappropriately, is disruptive to other participants, volunteers or staff, or becomes a danger to themselves or others.
Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refunds:
Customer cancellations or changes must be requested in writing. Any change will be subject to a $25 administrative fee for each child/registration.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 14 days or more prior to the program start will be eligible for a full refund, less the administrative fee.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 7-13 days prior to the program start will be eligible for a 50% refund, less the administrative fee.
Cancellations/withdrawals requests with less than 7 days notice will not be eligible for any refund.
There are no pro-rated program fees for days absent from a registered program.
Nanaimo Science reserves the right to cancel a program one week prior to the start date if registration numbers are below a certain threshold. If severe weather requires the cancellation of a program, Nanaimo Science will contact all registered participants with as much notice as possible. In all cases when Nanaimo Science cancels programs, full refunds will be issued to registrants.
Punctuality: Nanaimo Science will not assume responsibility for children before or after camp or after “Stay & Play” if a child has been pre-registered for “Stay & Play” (when available). “Stay & Play” is only available for week-long camps during the Summer. A $25 late pick-up fee may be charged. Repeated late pick-ups can result in cancelled participation without refund.
Images/Media: Photos and videos taken during summer camps are used for Nanaimo Science promotional materials, publications and advertisements. Please note, we never publish children’s names. Parents/guardians may request no photos or videos be taken of their children.
Please also be aware that because we will use Google Drive and Google Photo to store photos, and because Google stores data outside of Canada, the photos would be subject to Google’s data management and privacy policies, not protected by Canadian privacy legislation, and may be accessed by the foreign government/s in accordance with its/their laws (see this site for more information).
