World Rivers Day Virtual Celebrations!
September 21, 2020 - September 27, 2020
FreeMonday, September 21 – Sunday, September 27th
Event Information: World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world’s waterways. It is celebrated yearly on the fourth Sunday in September. This year it falls on September 27, 2020. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and hopefully encourage the improved stewardship of rivers around the world.
This year’s World Rivers Day theme is once again, Waterways in our Communities, in recognition of “the incredible natural, cultural and recreational values of our rivers and streams and the extent to which they add to our quality of life.”
The city of Nanaimo is hosting multiple online activities in the week prior to Rivers Day for kids and families to participate in, and Nanaimo Science has joined in on the fun! You can find links to the virtual content we’ve created below, or click here to check out what the city and other groups have got going!!!
