Nanaimo Science is your source for hands-on science education and fun! Our programs are specifically geared to children and their families, as well as teachers and their students. We make learning about science, technology, engineering, math and sustainability an engaging experience for children.

Summer Science Camps!

Our day camps are science-driven, with several activities daily focused on each theme for children to enjoy and learn from! All camps have hands-on activities for kids to explore and try out, Campers also have lots of fun with crafts, games, and outdoor time daily.

Some camps are geared towards older children, while others are all-ages (ages 6 to 12). Children who are 5-years-old but who have completed Kindergarten may enroll in programs for 6-year-olds. Please contact us prior to registering for support.

Registration will be open by April 1, 2024.

Nanaimo Science Members get first access to camps. A new Bursary program is being piloted to help families in financial need attend camp this summer!

Spring Homeschool Programs

For the Spring semester (April – June 2024), our Homeschool programs will be moving back outdoors, using our celebrated “Wandering School” model to enjoy placed-based learning and have unique opportunities with field trips and special presentations that will be tied to Earth Science and include content related to Social Studies and Career Education.

Options for families include a “merged” Kindergarten to Grade 7 offering, a Primary (K-3), and an Intermediate (Grades 4-7) class time. Special field trips are paired with a preliminary class to introduce the topics and to make the most out of the special event.

Birthday Parties at our Studio!

Are you celebrating someone’s birthday? We can be your destination for science and fun!

In our bright and colourful studio at Country Club Centre, our Outreach Educator will lead your group through science activities for a 1-hour private program. There are several themes/packages to choose from! You will also have an additional 30 minutes after activities are done for your refreshments, cake and presents!

Saturday afternoon options available on most weeks. Bookings from April to June 2024 now open!

Science on the move

Hey Teachers, bring Nanaimo Science to your school with our in-class programs or walking field trips!

Nanaimo Science’s mobile science van can bring hands-on programs with specific curriculum links right to your school which removes the need for arranging busses or field trip permission forms. We also offer GO Grant eligible field trips that are focused on outdoor science and sustainability activities. Programs can be adapted to work with PLO’s across different grade levels.
