June Summer Camps

S.T.E.A.M. Punk

A week of adventure with projects and activities from across the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math! We will be exploring and creating with technologies old and new – including geocaching, making telescopes and pinhole cameras, papermaking, and experimenting with electricity and magnetism. Come see just how creative and artistic you can be while using science and technology.

June 19-23 Ages: 6+

Eco-Revolution: Cycles in Nature

Get outside to explore the many cycles of nature! This camp will explore the water cycle, animal life cycle, carbon cycle, rock cycle, and more! Lots of time will be spent outdoors interacting and observing the natural cycles happening all around us. We will take notes in our nature journals, discover the life stages of a plant with a lima bean dissection and explore the components at the micro level with our microscopes.

July and August Summer Camps

Wild About Science

Come explore the world around us!  This camp is for your budding outdoor enthusiast who is ready to put their keen senses and curiosity to work.   Wild About Science will feature outdoor visits to Diver Lake and Long Lake with hands-on activities and experiments out of the Science Studio to learn more about local plants and animals and their natural history as well as our impact.  Students will create make-and-take projects and record their learning from throughout the week in their own nature journals.  Activities include making solar ovens, inquiry with UV beads, and sundial explorations.  Students will do geocaching and orienteering in our local park spaces.

July 10-14 Ages: 6-9

Creative Computing

This camp will introduce kids to the basics of coding using SCRATCH. By the end of the week everyone will have all the tools they need to build their own simple computer programs. Learn about computational thinking and creative problem solving through activities and team challenges. Put your imagination to work as you create your own computer game or digital story.  And of course we’ll spend some time outdoors to get inspired and refreshed by the natural world. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops (please no ipads)  – computers can be borrowed from NS3 (requests can be made at registration).
